The police launched an investigation, but the case soon hit a dead end. All the evidence pointed to a murder mystery. No sign of a struggle, no obvious motive. It was decided that the killer probably knew his victim. However, all this remained only a hypothesis.
Laura, determined to continue her own investigation, took a risk and started asking questions of her neighbors, especially those who lived near Evelina. She remembered that a few months ago, Evelina had been acting strangely somehow. She often went out at night and said she felt something unusual, like she was being stalked. Laura remembered that her friend didn’t want to share personal information, and when she did agree to talk, the conversation always ended on a cryptic note.
One dark night, Laura felt that strange sensation again, as if someone was watching her. She tried to ignore these thoughts, but one day she managed to make out a figure standing in the window in the darkness. She directed her gaze in the direction of the old house from where she felt that strange stare. The figure was so real that she couldn’t believe her eyes. Who was it?
Laura told Jonathan, the detective who had taken the case, about her suspicions. They started digging further. They questioned neighbors, looked for possible connections to Evelina’s past, checked her work records. But all these attempts were fruitless.
One day Laura found a strange notebook that belonged to Evelina. The book was covered in dust and looked ancient. Inside were written incomprehensible symbols, notes about ancient rituals and unknown practices. Soon Laura began to experience strange sensations. She began to notice shadows in the corners of her apartment, to hear whispers in the dark nights.
Her life turned into a real nightmare when she realized that she found in her dreams a reflection of the very symbols that were written in the notebook. In one of her dreams, Evelina came to her, not as a living person, but as a translucent spirit, warning her of the sinister power that had once possessed her.
Laura had no doubt now that the murder had been part of some greater plan. But who was that “someone”? And why had Evelina been victimized?
