Edward stood as if paralyzed, his body unable to move and his mind filled with an unimaginable number of thoughts. Who was this man standing in the shadows? Why did his voice sound so familiar? And what were those words he spoke? “You can’t run away from what you’ve done.”
The shadow didn’t move, but Edward felt everything around him shrink, leaving him in this empty and dark space. He tried to make out details, but the figure remained a blur. The man took no steps, but his presence was palpable. It was more than just the presence of another person-it was the sensation of his breath sliding over his skin, making goosebumps rise along his spine.
– Who are you?” Edward barely spoke, his voice sounding uncertain.
The figure took a step forward, and the light from the dim lantern shining through the windows illuminated a face that Edward recognized for a moment. It was the face of a man with whom he had once done his terrible deeds. It was the face of his past that he had tried for so long to forget. The man was much older now, with deep wrinkles, but the same fire that had once united them in dark deeds still burned in his eyes.
– Did you think you could get rid of it? – The man said with a smirk, stepping into the light. – You can’t get rid of what you’ve done. We all have to pay the price.
Edward took a step back. He couldn’t stay here any longer. He knew that if he didn’t leave this place, it would be too late. His thoughts were racing, trying to figure out what was going on, but fear was holding him back. The man stood motionless, as if waiting for Edward to make his choice.
– Why did you come? – Edward finally asked, swallowing and trying to gather his strength.
The man paused for a moment, then his face took on a grim expression.
– I’ve come for you, Edward. We all come for those who break the rules. Your crimes are not forgotten. They will not disappear.
At that moment, the space around Edward began to tighten, as if the walls were shrinking. He felt the darkness he thought he’d long ago left envelope him again. He saw not only the figure of a man, but dark silhouettes moving in the breaks of light, as if there were others lurking behind this man. He realized that they weren’t just looking for him – they were out for revenge. And no one could stop them.
